Administrative Vice President/Minority-Owner Business Banking Manager
Since 2008, Detra Miller has worked her way up the ranks from a management development trainee to her current position as Administrative Vice President at M&T Bank. She spearheaded the bank’s first minority and women-owned business banking team, which was created to focus exclusively on helping female entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs of color.
“Since joining M&T in 2008 as a management development program trainee, Detra noticed several common hurdles minority and female business owners encountered on their path to success and validated these themes through heavy research. In response Detra sought to provide solutions for diverse business owners to help them overcome obstacles, expand their network, and develop and ecosystem of resources,” said Scott Graham, a senior public relations manager at M&T Bank.
More than 60 clients have been helped since the team was formed, the majority of which received Paycheck Protection Program loans from M&T during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Miller is continuously recognized for her commitment on making a positive impact within the greater Baltimore Community. In August, she was listed among American Banker magazine’s “Most Powerful Women in Banking;” in 2019, she was awarded the MD Washington Minority Company Association’s “Most Resourceful Financial Executive for Minority Business Enterprise.” M&T was also awarded The Greater Baltimore Committee’s “Bridging the Gap” Award for Mentorship for Miller’s team’s work to develop and foster relationships with minority and women-owned businesses.
