Harford County Chamber of Commerce
Since joining the Harford County Chamber of Commerce in 2016, Heather Murphy has single-handedly increased membership and engagement rates. Her success has earned her promotions from membership support to membership relationship manager, to membership director and her newest position as vice president.
While she said she tends to be underestimated by her small stature and reserved demeanor, she has proven to be a decisive, vocal, and motivated leader. Under Murphy’s leadership, membership retention rates increased 19.62% since July 2016 and have continued to increase by 6.82% since 2018. Membership rates also increased 19% just in 2019.
She volunteers her time with Edgewood High School Academy of Finance students to unite them with business leaders in the community and to gain real-world career experience.
“I aspire to change the ways the business community interacts with our youth and I also aspire to create an ecosystem of entrepreneurship that fuels and propels our next generation of business owners and leaders,” Murphy said.
Murphy is a graduate of York College where she received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She sits on the board of directors for the Harford Community Action Agency and the Susquehanna Workforce Network’s Business Engagement Committee.
