As the director of post-secondary services at Kennedy Krieger Institute, Herman is committed to inspiring individuals with disabilities to reach their maximum potential as well as helping businesses to see these individuals’ strengths, talents and what they can bring to the workforce. She also works to advocate for policy change that advances the lives of individuals with disabilities and inspire her team to lead with passion, dedication and collaboration.

Herman holds a master’s degree in special education with a focus in severe disabilities from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree in inclusive elementary and special education from Syracuse University.

She is president of the Maryland chapter of the Association of People Support Employment First (APSE) and helped to get the group reinstated. Last year, she was appointed as a board member to the Governor’s Workforce Development Board and the Interagency Transition Council for Youth with Disabilities.
