Appellants, Derrick Simmons and Terica Evans, were tried together for the shooting deaths of Angel Crespo and Edgardo Estremera at the Motel 6 in the Woodlawn area of Baltimore County. Following a six-day jury trial, Simmons and Evans were each convicted of two counts of first-degree murder, one count of robbery with a deadly weapon, two counts of using a handgun in the commission of a crime of violence, and one count of illegal possession of a regulated firearm.
Simmons and Evans each received consecutive life sentences for the murders of Crespo and Estremera, and additional concurrent sentences for the remaining counts.
