Maryland General Assembly
As someone who has sustained achievement, what advice can you give to the Top 100 Women on how they take care of themselves while trying to help so many others?
“I would encourage women to remain focused on their career and professional goals while maintaining a sense of self. It is essential that women not push themselves too hard and become judgmental with regard to what others expect them to do or demand from them.”
How do you and your other Circle of Excellence honorees use your influence and achievement to help the women who want to grow to your level of success?
“As a member of the executive team on the MD General Assembly’s Women’s Caucus and House delegation, it is imperative to remain vigilant and sponsor/support legislation that will empower women and leaders for the next generation.”
What do you see as the greatest issue impacting professional women today and how do you and other leaders lead change around this issue?
“I believe there is a three-prong issue that women continue to face today: diversity, equity and inclusion. There continues to be an equal pathway for representation of women in key positions/boards/ executive leadership; equal access to capital for business/technology ownership; erosion/diminishing of health disparities; recognition of barriers that continue to exist for women to compete in all levels of contracts. Bringing attention to the aforementioned issues as noted in Speaker Adrienne Jones’ Racial & Economic Agenda and meaningful legislation that address the issues are positive steps.”
