What about your leadership style has helped grow your career and how have you had to change your leadership role/style during the past year?
One skill that has served me well in being an effective leader is the ability to communicate openly and honestly. I believe that being transparent and forthcoming with information is key to gaining buy-in and building trust. The pandemic has made effective communication even more critical. I have focused much of my effort on communicating with various stakeholders within and outside of my organization. It has been incredibly important to share information openly and in a timely manner. In my opinion, this has been key to successfully navigating through this challenging time.
As women leaders, it is our role to help grow the next generation of leaders. What advice can you share to help impact not only the younger generation but also the women who are trying to grow in their careers and create positive change?
My first piece of advice would be to have faith in yourself and go for want you want. Build relationships with other women whom you can turn to for advice and lean on for support. Read, read, read – knowledge is power. And, celebrate the small victories –each one in itself may not seem important, but aggregated together over time, you will see the culmination of your efforts pay off.
