As women leaders, it is our role to help grow the next generation of leaders. What advice can you share to help impact not only the younger generation but also the women who are trying to grow in their careers and create positive change?
Find a mentor. As female leaders, we must take time to invest in the learning and advancement of other women. Find someone to support you to take risks and encourage you to step into leadership roles. This is especially important now when so many of us are teleworking, and the younger generation needs to find ways to use technology to still network.
There are so many issues we are tackling in the MD General Assembly and in various organizations across Maryland to create change and help people succeed both at work and at home. Share some issues you are passionate about and how our network of women leaders and attendees tonight can make a difference and become advocates for change?
We need stronger protections for workers with caregiving responsibilities. We need to strengthen the Family and Medical Leave Act. We also need to pass the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. This is a proposal that establishes a pregnant worker’s clear-cut right to reasonable accommodations, provided they do not impose an undue burden on their employer.
