What about your leadership style has helped grow your career and how have you had to change your leadership role/style during the past year?

My leadership style reflects my top priorities of collaboration, enthusiasm and support. My most valuable contributions to the workplace are my ability to connect with others and build team spirit, allowing people to succeed. I value personal connections and spend time cultivating personal and professional relationships. This past year, I have had to spend time interacting at the operational level, spending time directly with clients at a tactical level. I developed a larger network of colleagues and donors so when there are problems/issues in my sphere of influence, I am able to help.

What are the tools you use to embrace change and to help your team navigate that change with you?

I embraced the tools of Zoom, MS Teams and Uber conference to maintain stability and to connect with all stakeholders. We had to reinvent the management of our day-to-day operations. However, the tools which were most used during this time had little to do with technology. The passion for our mission went into overdrive, increasing our capacity for service, compassion, empathy and love. The pandemic has created a new focus on the urgency of alleviating food insecurity and addressing issues of social injustice. I engage in more collaborative partnerships and include our elected officials.
