After a four-day trial, a jury empaneled in the Circuit Court for Charles County convicted appellant Melvin Johnson of first-degree assault and reckless endangerment of Agnes Reed, second-degree assault on Kelvin Dickens, reckless endangerment of Ralph Sargant, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment of George Toye, home invasion, attempted arson, violation of a peace order, and malicious destruction of property valued at less than $1,000. The court sentenced Mr. Johnson to a total sentence of fifty-five years’ incarceration, suspending all but twenty years, plus a period of probation. Mr. Johnson filed a timely appeal …
