Three years after signing its first lease in the Odenton area of Anne Arundel County, Crooked Crab Brewing Company founders and longtime friends Earl Holman, Alex Josephs, and Dan Messeca have signed a new lease that more than doubles its initial 6,100 square feet of space at 8251 Telegraph Road.

Lee & Associates | Maryland brokered a lease for an additional 8,580 square feet of space at the single-story warehouse/industrial building, bringing the total square footage of the space to 14,680 square feet. Marley Welsh, vice president of Lee & Associates | Maryland represented the tenant in this lease transaction.

Crooked Crab Brewing Company features a diverse line of beers that includes Crooked Cream Ale, Haze for Days New England Pale Ale, Furious George Hefeweizen, High Joltage Coffee Stout, I Fought the Claw IPA and Galactic Crablord Double IPA. The beers feature flavor profiles that range from refreshing, session-able pale ales to rich, complex, barrel-aged stouts.

Messeca said the company, founded in 2018, is currently operating at its maximum capacity and the primary purpose of the expansion was to increase its production output. Messeca said he expects Crooked Crab will slowly ramp up to the range of 5,000 barrels annually. He added that the ability to produce more beer will enable Crooked Crab Brewing to more effectively supply its existing wholesale accounts, as well as supply products to new bars and restaurants.

Messeca said the additional square footage will enable Crooked Crab Brewing to enhance its current barrel aging program, which can be space intensive, to create new varieties of beer and develop new event space for live music performances, beer dinners, private functions, and other events. He anticipates the brewery being fully operational in the new space in early 2022.

Constructed in 2006, 8251 Telegraph Road is positioned within the Telegraph Commerce Center, just off Md. 32. Fronting Telegraph Road, the property is surrounded by a surface parking lot that can accommodate about 150 spaces.
