What makes you excited about your job?

It has been my privilege to work with colleagues and the leadership of the Maryland House of Delegates to pass landmark legislation in education. Together with the Governor and Senate, we have provided Maryland citizens with educational options that have state support and policy direction. Not only our University of Maryland System, but also private colleges and a network of community colleges help make Maryland one of the most educated states.

How has your organization and your work changed because of the pandemic?

We all now know what “zoom” is! In fact for the first time in the history of our legislature, committee hearings, voting sessions, and briefings were virtual. Our floor sessions were limited to voting, with half of us seated in different rooms. We focused, and together with our Senate counterparts and the Administration we passed critical relief to Maryland businesses and citizens in need. Now we are planning for the upcoming session in January.
