Barry Levin

Managing Partner, CEO
Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr LLP

Barry Levin is in awe of the way the firm transitioned to operating remotely without skipping a beat when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. He attributes their success to the exceptional attorneys and staff.

“Despite all of the personal and professional hardships and challenges thrown our way, we are poised to see another year of strong growth and significant achievements across our entire footprint,” Levin said.

Levin prizes collaboration in order to deliver excellent service, and said a diverse and inclusive group is key to that process.

At Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr LLP, he is the executive officer overseeing daily operations, client relations, strategic planning and business development.

He’s also provided legal advice and counsel for mergers and acquisitions, financings, franchising issues, licensing, real estate deals and general corporate matters.

He tells those interested in a legal career that they need to set a foundation based on character and high moral and ethical values.

“Be flexible enough to adapt based on changing circumstances, but firm enough in your convictions to continue to pursue those goals despite challenges,” Levin said. “Keep your family a priority in your goals – as they and your career are intricately intertwined.”

What is the biggest challenge facing the legal profession today?

Securing and maintaining a work environment that supports the flexibility that a pandemic-changed workforce requires – while continuing to deliver excellent service to clients within a culture of collaboration among a diverse and inclusive group of professionals.

What advice would you offer anyone interested in a legal career?

Set a foundation based upon your character of the highest moral and ethical values: who you are at your core when nobody’s watching. From that foundation, set career goals and personal goals, develop plans to achieve those goals, and focus consistently on implementing them. Be flexible enough to adapt based on changing circumstances, but firm enough in your convictions to continue to pursue those goals despite challenges. Keep your family a priority in your goals – as they and your career are intricately intertwined. Finally, ask yourself, what do you want to look back on and be proud of?

What has been your biggest surprise during the pandemic?

I am in awe of the way our Firm transitioned to operating remotely without skipping a beat – and our attorneys and staff continue to exceed expectations and deliver outstanding results. Despite all of the personal and professional hardships and challenges thrown our way, we are poised to see another year of strong growth and significant achievements across our entire footprint. This success is due to our exceptional attorneys and staff, who have continued to show – through their talent, creativity, and determination – their commitment to our Firm, our clients and each other.
