What is your proudest professional accomplishment?

When the first COVID-19 vaccines arrived in Maryland in December 2020, I told our team to tune out the political and media noise, focus on operational excellence, and trust that executing our plan would ultimately validate our approach – and it did. I’m deeply proud that Maryland is a national leader in both efficiency and equity, ranking in the top 10 for percentage of all adults fully vaccinated and for percentage of Hispanic and Black populations fully vaccinated.

What’s is the most important life lesson you learned?

Pay it forward. I’ve often been the beneficiary of someone in a position of power taking a chance on me, and then putting in the work to earn it. I really strive to make it a priority to give my time, advice, and access to opportunities to young people looking for someone to take a chance on them. Younger peers I’ve connected with opportunities have served on presidential campaigns, built their own businesses, and been elected to office – one day I’ll be calling them for advice.
