Like many lawyers during the past two years, Alison Schurick, associate at Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz PC, has participated in a fair number of remote trials.
But her biggest trial of the pandemic was a 31-day remote administrative trial that involved a dozen lawyers, nearly 200 witnesses and thousands of pages of exhibits. The trial, which still does not have a final ruling, was challenging, often requiring Schurick to step outside of her comfort zone. And yet, it was also one of her proudest professional accomplishments.
A member of Baker Donelson’s government enforcement and investigations group, Schurick also serves as the attorney liaison for the firm’s community service and giving initiative, BakerCares. The initiative supports different local organizations through fundraisers and donations, which Schurick plans and participates in. This and next year, Baker Donelson will be supporting Paul’s Place.
With BakerCares, “I am able to engage and collaborate with other attorneys and local organizations to support individuals and the community at large,” Schurick said. “This is one of the most rewarding things I am able to do, and I look forward to continuing my service in this role.”
Schurick is a graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law and is an active member of the Bar Association of Baltimore City.
