Frances Hall Chaney III joined Chaney Enterprises, a family-owned business started in 1962 by Eugene Chaney, in 2008 and held a variety of positions before he was promoted to president in 2016 and, three years later, CEO.

But Chaney’s involvement in the family business began decades earlier when he was a student at the University of Maryland and worked for Chaney Enterprises during the summers.

Since he took over as CEO, becoming the third generation in his family to do so, Chaney Enterprises has acquired Howlin Concrete, Dunirk Supply (now BuilderUP) and PCS Concrete, in the process becoming one of the largest family-owned, ready-mix concrete and sand and gravel producers in the mid-Atlantic region.

Under Chaney’s leadership, Chaney Enterprises also began offering limestone to its customers, along with an 80-rail-car train for limestone transportation.

Chaney earned a Bachelor of Science in logistics and supply chain management and a master’s degree in real estate and development from the University of Maryland.

“Continuing to grow this family business based on the same core principles and culture from which it was formed is a true passion for myself and our entire leadership team,” said Chaney when he was named to his current position. “We take pride in delivering exceptional products and services, while demonstrating unwavering commitment to our people, our communities, and our environment.

“Our team members continue to be our greatest strength, and we look forward to continuing to push one another for the benefit of our customers and our community.”
