Howard Community College appointed Dr. Carl S. Moore as vice president of teaching and learning.
Moore was formerly the associate vice president for learning engagement at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC). He also serves as certificate faculty in Temple University’s Teaching in Higher Education Certificate program, teaching faculty for USC’s Equity Research Institute and a board member for the Online Learning Consortium.
He is a peer evaluator for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and a frequent speaker and consultant on inclusion, leadership, faculty development, and teaching and learning topics. He has a doctorate in urban education (interdisciplinary education) from Temple University and a Master of Arts from Ohio State University in higher education administration. His dissertation investigated how exemplary college faculty employ universal design for learning principles in their teaching practices. He will begin his new role Aug. 1.
