Gregory Farno has been the Maryland regional president of Truist Financial Corporation for almost three years now. He came to the role from his position at SunTrust Bank, where he also served as the Maryland regional president, when SunTrust merged with BB&T in late 2019.

Farno has worked in the Baltimore banking industry for four decades and he got his start at Maryland National Bank, which has since been acquired by Bank of America.

He credits his parents, teachers and coaches for providing him with a “solid foundation” to launch his career.

Farno holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Gettysburg College.

What’s the most important thing you do in your job?

Inspire and build better lives and communities. I have the honor of leading our Maryland teammates to live our purpose every day in everything we do, and that is to Inspire and build better lives and communities. There is nothing more important nor more gratifying.

If you weren’t in this industry, what would you be doing?

I believe I would be in a similar role. Working with talented co-workers (or teammates as we refer to co-workers at Truist) to make a difference. A difference with our families and our communities and everyone we touch. It’s a privilege, never a job.
