For nearly three years, James Cornelsen has held a position on the Wesbanco Board of Directors as chair of the mid-Atlantic Market and as a member of the bank’s executive loan committee. He was appointed in 2019, when Old Line Bancshares, where he served since 1994 as president, CEO and board member, was acquired by Wesbanco.

Wesbanco, which is headquartered in West Virginia, operates in six states and has more than 260 financial centers, 49 of which are in Maryland.

Cornelsen has more than 42 years of commercial banking experience, and it was when he worked at Old Line Bank that he was inducted into the Maryland Chamber of Commerce’s Business Hall of Fame for his work growing the bank to one of the largest community banks in the state.

Prior to his tenure with Old Line Bank, Cornelsen worked for 15 years with Citizens Bank of Maryland.

Cornelsen serves on numerous boards of directors across the state, including the Maryland Bankers Association, the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement of Greater Washington and Greater Prince George’s Business Roundtable.

He was recently appointed to the board of directors at The Arc Prince George’s County, where he serves as treasurer and chair of the finance committee.
