John Allen is a region bank president managing Well Fargo’s community banking activities in the Greater DC/Maryland region. In this role, he oversees more than 800 team members serving customers through more than 105 branches and 150 ATMs.

Allen has held several key positions at various banking institutions over the past 30 years. Prior to joining Wells Fargo, Allen served as the executive vice president, region president for Pennsylvania West and Maryland with Santander Bank. Previously, he was a market president for Prince Georges/Eastern Maryland and director, vice president in Branch Distribution for Capital One Bank. He also held various positions at Union Planters, Fifth Third Bank and Charter One Bank, which included regional leadership, private banking and commercial lending.

Additionally, Allen was an adjunct instructor for 12 years and owned a public speaking company where he worked directly with Habitat for Humanity of Indiana. A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Allen started his career as a branch manager with a hometown bank called INB Bank.

Allen currently serves on the board of the Washington Special Olympics, serving as chair of Diversity Equity and Inclusion, is a graduate and active member of Leadership Greater Washington, class of 2020 and serves as Co-Chair of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce DE&I council. He also co-leads the Career Mobility Pillar in CSBBs Diversity Council.

Allen was recognized as the Washington Business Journals “Top Business Minority Leader” in 2020. Allen holds a Bachelor of Science in public relations from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.
