Bratsakis, JohnJohn Bratsakis has served as the president and CEO of the Maryland & D.C. Credit Union Association for nearly 11 years, helping credit unions in the region with programs and services that help them compete in the banking space.

The regional trade association regularly advocates for credit unions in front of legislators and other regulatory bodies that may make decisions affecting the more than 2 million people who use credit unions across Maryland and the District of Columbia. The association also provides educational events to help member credit unions grow with the changing banking landscape.

Bratsakis has a 33-year history as a credit union advocate and prior to joining the association he served in leadership positions at Baxter Credit Union and Community Trust Credit Union, both in Illinois. He has also held management positions with United Federal Credit Union in Michigan and Teachers Credit Union in Indiana.

Committed to giving back to his community, Bratsakis is the chair of several nonprofits benefiting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, a separate nonprofit that raises funds for children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada.

Bratsakis holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Manchester University and an MBA from Indiana University. He is certified as a credit union development educator from the National Credit Union Foundation.
