What’s the most important thing you do in your job?

I think the most important thing I do in my job is meet my clients where they are and help them, with education and empathy, focus their efforts and their energy on discerning the best path forward. Similarly, when I represent children, I strive to keep their parents focused on keeping my clients at the forefront of their decision-making, often bringing a perspective that otherwise is lost in the adversarial divorce process.

What is one aspect of your profession you would like to change?

I would like there to be better and more options for young lawyers to be trained and mentored by more experienced professionals in our practice area. There are fewer opportunities for law graduates to work in a law firm setting with more senior attorneys, where both the firm and the junior associates invest in the lawyer’s career development. The lack of training for young lawyers diminishes the reputation of our profession and is a disservice to those we represent.
