What is the most important thing you do in your job?

The most important part of my job is navigating good folks through any and all challenges posed by their circumstances. Each case is different and every client brings a unique set of expectations, challenges and goals.

What is one aspect of your profession you would like to change?

I have been doing this for 35 years and, for the most part, the family bar remains collegial. There are a few exceptions to this general rule, unfortunately. While the process may be adversarial, it need not be uncivilized. We can battle in the courtroom and still have lunch afterward.

If you weren’t in this industry, what would you be doing?

When I was younger, I thought I would end up playing shortstop for the Baltimore Orioles. I actually followed a one-year older gangly teenager from Aberdeen as the shortstop for Putty Hill Optimist in the summer of 1975, but thereafter our paths diverged. So, there is not much of a demand for 61-year-old shortstops with a sore throwing arm.
