Gregory “Steve” Proctor Jr. started G.S. Proctor & Associates in 1995 with a car phone, a yellow legal pad, a handful of business cards and a single staff member he affectionately referred to as “Mom.”
“There was one client, a construction landfill operator and a literal rolodex with a few names and numbers we would now recognize as part of Prince George’s County’s hall of fame,” Proctor said.
Today the company boasts four offices throughout Maryland and Washington, with more than 100 clients. They provide legislative and administrative representation to a variety of clients, including higher education institutions, nonprofit organizations, local and multinational business and local and international governmental bodies on the county, state and federal levels.
Proctor possesses the skill and knowledge base of a technical leader, the grit of a one-man-band and the intuition and understanding of people and relationships with corporate leaders. His humility and love for humanity allow him to extend his gifts to those in need. He empowers his team and serves as a partner in their personal and professional development, as much as making sure that client expectations are met, and exceeded. His motto is, “Doing well by doing good.”
His volunteerism includes serving as a finance committee member for Holy Rosary Catholic Church and on boards for Junior Achievement of Greater Washington, United Way of the National Capital Area, Bowie State University, Prince George’s Community College Foundation and Bishop McNamara High School.
He is a proud alumnus of Towson University and Georgetown University.
