Howard Kurman

Principal Attorney
Offit Kurman

“I fervently hope that when all is said and done, I will be remembered as a kind and caring person who, in his profession, always tried to conduct himself with the utmost of integrity and ethics…”
– Howard Kurman

As an employment lawyer, Howard Kurman’s clients include small companies with 20 employees to large companies with thousands of staff members. His practice focuses on all aspects of proactive employment and labor issues.

Earning a Master of Laws from Georgetown University Law Center, Kurman co-founded Offit Kurman more than 30 years ago and serves as principal attorney, as well as a member of the firm’s management and diversity committees.

He has served on the board of directors for Unified Community Connections, the Salvation Army, Linwood School and the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor. Kurman is also a past president of the Industrial Relations Research Association Maryland Chapter.

He says his greatest accomplishment, “Is not related to my decades of legal practice or my role in management for my law firm. Rather, my greatest joy/accomplishment (if you can call it that) has been enjoying a wonderful marriage with a woman who is also my best friend and watching my two children make their way in this world with their own children. Beyond my immediate and extended family, I have been blessed with the opportunity to make life-long friends and colleagues with whom I have shared a multitude of life-cycle events, providing added meaning and joy to my life.

Kurman says of his legacy, “I fervently hope that when all is said and done, I will be remembered as a kind and caring person who, in his profession, always tried to conduct himself with the utmost of integrity and ethics, and in his personal life was a loving husband, father and friend to many in times of need.”
