In the early morning of August 16, 2020, Gary Melvin was killed by a single shot to the abdomen outside of an Exxon gas station in Reisterstown, Maryland. Appellant, Xavier Damon Byrd, was indicted for the murder of Mr. Melvin and stood trial before a jury in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County.
