Fagan Harris has a resume that includes, but not limited to, chairman of the Just Economy Group, CEO of Baltimore Corps, chairman of the board for Lead For America and one that is nearly as varied as his boss, Gov. Wes Moore.
Perhaps that helps explain why Moore, who co-founded the social change organization Baltimore Corps with Harris, named Harris his chief of staff.
“Fagan is one of the country’s leading social entrepreneurs, bringing extraordinary expertise in talent recruitment, retention and also innovation,” Moore said when he announced the appointment. “He has an absolutely formidable track record of driving innovation and results in our communities and for our communities and is a sector leader on the issue of national service. “In short, Fagan knows how to get things done.”
The son of a public school special education teacher, Harris graduated from Glen Burnie High School, earned his bachelor’s degree in political science at Stanford University and his master’s in philosophy from the University of Oxford.
“We are bringing a different spirit to this administration,” Harris said when he was appointed. “We need to rethink the role of government. We need to be responsive. We need to be accountable. We need to be transparent. We need to be intensely collaborative.”
