Michael Sanderson serves as the executive director of the Maryland Association of Counties (MACo), a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that serves as the voice of Maryland’s 23 counties and Baltimore City.
Sanderson manages the general day-to-day operations and oversees legislative advocacy, which includes working collaboratively with county and city elected officials and representatives. He has been with MACo for nearly 30 years, serving as a legislative adviser. He is also co-host and regular contributor to the Conduit Street Podcast, a weekly roundup of policy and politics across Maryland.
Prior to joining MACo, Sanderson served as a legislative analyst for the Maryland Department of Fiscal Services. His key areas of legislative focus include business, health and human services, government liability and courts, housing and community development and public safety and corrections.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics and a Master of Public Administration from Syracuse University.
