How has the pandemic changed your view on your job or broader profession?
The pandemic influenced all leaders to be more nimble and to think and act as an integrated delivery system. We implemented virtual care, learned how to provide safe care, opened up vaccine clinics and enhanced analytic tools to drive decision making.
What’s your best advice for someone who aspires to your job?
Seek out a mentor, network with other colleagues, take classes in public speaking and finally, when approaching a position: listen, learn and lead.
Who has been the most influential person in your life and why?
My mother. When my father died when I was a sophomore in college, my mother raised five children on her own and put all of us through college. She taught me the qualities of humility, resiliency and courage. These skills have served me well in my current role.
What do you do for fun and why?
Of course, the beach — Ocean City. There is nothing more fun than people-watching, walking the boardwalk and listening to the ocean.
