Anthony Rosso has struck deals in the billions, making him one of The Daily Record’s Dealmakers honorees.

The corporate attorney focuses on mergers, acquisitions, including cross-border transactions, and divestitures for the firm, which provides a full range of legal services, including regulatory, legislative and government affairs through its Baltimore and Washington, D.C., area offices.

The prominent corporate attorney and established M&A advisor joined the firm’s Baltimore office 13 years ago, and now serves as outside counsel to publicly traded companies, private businesses, emerging growth companies, entrepreneurs and owners of closely held businesses.

Rosso began his legal career at DLA Piper, a global firm with lawyers in more than 40 countries, in 1995. Before that he worked for five years as a certified public accountant with Big-Four auditor KPMG LLP.

In his role at Venable, Rosso handles U.S. and cross-border deals for publicly traded companies, large privately-owned companies, middle-market companies, and emerging growth companies. Most of his client’s mergers and acquisitions transactions have been valued between $25 million and $200 million but he has worked on a couple of transactions that exceeded $1 billion in consideration.

Marichelli Hughes, who nominated Rosso for the Dealmakers honor, said Rosso “works in tandem with the firm’s other practice groups on M&A transactions to advise on litigation, employment, tax, government contracts, intellectual property, antitrust, international trade and export control, privacy, data security, and health regulations.”

Rosso graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1994. He earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Loyola University Maryland in 1989.
