Working as a case manager for clients facing child abuse or domestic violence issues requires going above the call of duty, and Cynthia Cummings, a paralegal with Child Justice Inc., regularly shows clients compassion and the kind of service that has earned her a leadership award for her paralegal work from The Daily Record.
Cummings is a paralegal with Child Justice Inc., in Silver Spring where she manages more than a dozen cases at once.
Paul Griffin, who nominated Cummings for the award, said that Cummings is an amazing asset to the organization.
Child Justice Inc., litigates custody cases involving child abuse and domestic violence. The nonprofit provides support and resources to children and their protective parents as they navigate the justice system. Its attorneys “represent non-offending, protective parents in family law cases where the child (or children) have been neglected or physically, sexually, or emotionally abused, or who may have experienced domestic abuse,” according to its website.
“Cynthia often spends hours on the phones with our clients, soothing their fears and emotions as the client navigates through difficult times. Her compassion and kindness with these often-injured clients is extraordinary,” Griffin wrote.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in criminology from the University of Maryland in 1992.
