Described as a bridge builder and a creative thinker, Kelly Preteroti constantly strives toward practical solutions for what are often difficult problems.
Since January 2017, she has worked as a shareholder at Baker Donelson in their Trust & Estates Group including helping to grow the firm’s fiduciary litigation practice. Preteroti represents corporate and individual fiduciaries and beneficiaries in trust and estate-related disputes.
She also hosts the firm’s annual Fiduciary Counsel Roundtable bringing together lead counsel for corporate fiduciaries to discuss best practices and top issues.
She is a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, a national nonprofit association composed of lawyers and law professors that are peer-elected.
Preteroti earned a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. Before her current position, she worked for more than a decade at Ober, Kaler, Grimes & Shriver beginning as an associate and rising to principal.
“Kelly’s success comes from nearly two decades of experience and her ability to act decisively, welcome challenges that might deter others and do whatever it takes to achieve client goals,” said Johanna Burkett, public relations manager at Baker Donelson. “She does this all with a unique combination of sophistication and grace — with a calm but firm demeanor that gives clients a strong sense of confidence that they are in exceptional hands.”
An elected member of the Maryland State Bar Estate and Trust Section Council, Preteroti has helped with drafting and enacting key legislation including the recently enacted Statute Against Financial Exploitation known as the SAFE ACT.
Over the years, she has donated her time to a number of organizations including acting as general counsel for the Baltimore Junior Association of Commerce and sitting on the board of directors of BMore Fit.
