Paul Bekman and his firm, Bekman, Hopper, Malarkey & Perlin LLC, of which he is managing member, have been hailed numerous times as among the most effective personal injury attorneys and law firms in the state.

Bekman has amassed a long list of awards and honors during his 52 years as a trial lawyer. He has served as president of the Maryland Bar Foundation, president of both the Maryland State Bar Association, the Bar Association of Baltimore City and president of the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association, among many other positions.

Since 1989, Bekman has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America as a top lawyer in the fields of medical malpractice, products liability and  personal injury litigation.

He is a fellow in the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, an honor limited to 500 lawyers in the country.

From 2002-2011, Bekman was chairman of the University of Maryland School of Law Board Visitors, and in 2010 the school honored him with its Distinguished Graduate award.

In 2017, he was named to the American Registry of America’s Most Honored Professionals, an award limited to the top one percent of lawyers.

Bekman associate, attorney Ryan Perlin, in nominating Bekman for this award, said Bekman “has dedicated his career to making a difference in people’s lives. He has been, and continues to be, involved in some of Maryland’s most high-profile catastrophic injury cases, including almost every major maritime accident case.”

Recently, Perlin wrote, Bekman secured a $15 million judgment for the family of Yeardley Love of Cockeysville, the 22-year-old University of Virginia student killed in 2010.
