What is your most significant accomplishment?
While my most significant accomplishment was to be the first (and still only) African American woman in my prior firm’s 90-year history to matriculate from a first-year associate to partner, I am now one of only seven African American equity partners at my current firm of more than 900 attorneys in its 125-plus year history. As an African American woman, I can appreciate firsthand the magnitude of my accomplishment of becoming an equity partner at two nationally recognized, full-service law firms, as the legal industry has not always been the most open environment for diverse professionals. Black equity partners account for less than 1% of total equity partners in the entire nation. To be among those who are a part of helping to shatter that glass ceiling is tremendously fulfilling for me—both professionally and personally.
