What is your most significant accomplishment?

The most significant for me was charting the Junior League of Howard County (JLHC). This process required three years of dedicated research to demonstrate the need for such an educational, philanthropic, charitable organization. Within one year of receiving approval to charter JLHC, I negotiated a three-year partnership to provide volunteers and funding to support women affected by domestic violence, foster care children and support of the houseless population. As a result, more than 600 meals were prepared and donated, $3,000 in charitable gifts and a $1,000 scholarship was awarded.

How have you mentored others?

My community involvement expands across many organizations and I’ve been able to share my knowledge and educational wisdom with hundreds of students, parents and guardians in the areas of college preparation, leadership development, life goals, domestic violence, Branding You, STEM Careers and financial literacy. In addition to building mentoring programs, I volunteer as a mentor and panelist at the Women in Engineering Day and STEM Summit at Bowie State University.
