What is your most significant accomplishment?
The most significant for me was being one out of 4 million registered nurses in the USA, I was selected to be appointed to the CDC-CLIAC to serve on the advisory committee for four years. Appointed in January 2018 by the honorable Alex Azar Secretary of Health and Human Services in the previous presidential administration, and still serving.
How have you mentored others?
I mentored a student from Walden University (Cassandra Duncan) who was pursuing an MSN to become a nurse educator. She had no one to mentor her in her capstone practicum for a full academic semester and she was not going to be able to graduate. Through her church, a member asked her to see if I would help. There was no pay or benefits to me to serve as her preceptor, which involved meeting with her weekly sometimes two to three times to ensure course objectives were met and she mastered them well and passed the course.
