What is your most significant accomplishment?

I was the first one in my family to graduate from college. The stellar education that I received at Towson University laid the foundation for a career I never dreamed was possible. As a result, my most significant accomplishment is achieving a career that deftly wove between the public and private sectors, allowed me to serve at the highest executive levels and also cultivate local connections with communities and enabled me to pursue my passion for education and economic and social mobility in multiple industry sectors and spheres of influence with an equity lens, where I was often the only or the first woman and/or woman of color to serve in these spaces and most importantly, created tangible impact that improved millions of lives nationwide.

As assistant administrator for the USDA Rural Development Agency’s Water and Environmental Programs, I led the investment of $3 billion in water infrastructure projects in rural communities, including communities in Maryland. As chief operating officer for the USDA Rural Development Agency, I managed a more than $200 billion credit portfolio that provided critical rural housing, community development, business development and utilities programs and services nationwide. I also oversaw administrative services for 5,000 employees and spearheaded significant secretary-level initiatives.
