What is your most significant personal accomplishment?
On March 11 2020, I posted on Facebook, “If they close HCPSS I volunteer to run meals to students and families who are in need, or help in locations where food will be offered. Who is with me?” Three days later I created the Columbia Community Care (CCC) Facebook group.
Over the past three years, CCC has become a thriving non-profit and a pillar of the Columbia community. It operates three sites for distribution of essential resources, an extensive home delivery service and is supported by hundreds of volunteers monthly including dozens of community organizations, dozens of community partners and thousands of consistent donors. CCC has served hundreds of thousands of residents of Howard County and has completed more than 16,000 home deliveries of full grocery orders for those who lack transportation or otherwise cannot get to the in-person sites.
