What is your most significant accomplishment?

Most significantly I represent the social work profession nationally as the policy director for the largest social work organization in the world. In my current role, I work with Congress, federal agencies and the Administration to advocate for social workers and the clients and communities that we serve. I also am the founding administrator of an honorific society for the social work profession, the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare.

How have you mentored others?

I serve as a faculty field instructor with several universities, including University of Maryland School of Social Work. I mentor Master of Social Work Policy Students. Several of my former mentees have secured prestigious fellowships and/or employment in state and federal agencies. Most recently, one of my former interns Paige Jones, secured a Congressional Black Caucus Fellowship and was assigned to Rep. Meeks office in the U.S. House and also, served for 6 months under Vice President Kamala Harris. She now has secured a permanent policy position on Capitol Hill.
