Criminal procedure — Videotaped testimony — Hearsay

Deandre Sleet, appellant, was indicted in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City for various offenses stemming from the non-fatal shooting of Hanara Sanchez (“Sanchez”) in 2018. When the jury trial began in 2022, Sanchez was unavailable to testify. Over objection, the court admitted a video recording of Sanchez’s former testimony from a separate proceeding held in 2019.
