Gina Ramsey is the president of Pink Dog Digital, a full-service digital marketing agency she has led for 12 years. As a woman in technology, Ramsey has faced and overcome challenges in a male-dominated field. She is committed to supporting other women in business, maintaining a 50% female staff and co-chairing a women’s group at The Center Club.

Ramsey’s efforts to empower women have been recognized, as she was named a 2023 winner of the Empowering Women award by The Daily Record. Under her leadership, Pink Dog Digital provides website development, search engine optimization, social media marketing, content creation and digital advertising campaigns.

What does it mean to you to be a women-owned business?

Being a women-owned business means you are an active participant in the business. This is not a figurehead position. You get into the trenches with your team members and clients to impact the return on investment for every customer. It also means providing opportunities to other women in the industry. From an adminestrative assistant to marketing people, to programmers, to management, it is incumbent upon women business owners to help other women.

What challenges have you faced as a women-owned business?

Women in technology are rare. People assume marketers will be women, but the technology piece isn’t assumed. I need to learn more, teach more and have more expected of me than my male counterpart. I can’t tell you how often I speak somewhere and the main heckler in the audience is a man in technology. Appearance also plays a role. If you are perceived as old, you clearly can’t be on the cutting edge of tech.
