Baker Donelson
Michael Halaiko serves as a shareholder at Baker Donelson’s Baltimore office, where he provides strategic counsel to life sciences companies, clinical research organizations and businesses navigating complex legal landscapes.
As a member of the Health Law Group and the Data Protection, Privacy and Cybersecurity Team, Halaiko has built a reputation guiding clients through the intersection of law, technology and health issues.
“Mr. Halaiko has built a reputation as a trusted adviser, guiding clients through the intersection of law, technology and health issues and offering thoughtful, practical solutions that reflect his deep understanding of both the law and his clients’ industries,” said Johanna Burkett of Baker Donelson.
With more than two decades of litigation experience, Halaiko is well-versed in contract disputes, commercial litigation and high-stakes personal injury cases. His courtroom experience spans multiple jurisdictions.
Beyond regulatory and litigation matters, Halaiko serves as outside general counsel for numerous organizations, advising risk management, insurance, employment and litigation matters.
Halaiko demonstrates a commitment to community service both locally and globally. He has held leadership roles with Gorilla Doctors, an organization dedicated to the care of mountain gorilla populations in Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. As immediate past president and current vice president of the board, he supports a “one health” approach to conservation.
“He and Gorilla Doctors champion a ‘one health’ approach to the conservation of these endangered great apes, recognizing that the health of the entire ecosystem, including the health and well-being of the humans that live in and around the Mountain gorillas’ habitat, is vital to preserving these amazing animals,” said Burkett.
Halaiko has also acted as a pro bono attorney for Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), Maryland Volunteer Legal Services and the nonpartisan Election Protection Coalition.
