Baltimore law practice Gallagher LLP establishes namesake fund
Gallagher LLP, a law practice based in Baltimore, and Catholic Charities of Baltimore announced the launch of The Gallagher LLP Fund for Esperanza Center, an effort aiming to preserve and expand the center’s programming.
The Esperanza Center, a program of Catholic Charities, is a resource center whose mission is to welcome immigrants by offering a range of support services, including education, health care and immigration legal matters.
This Gallagher LLP fund will advance several improvements at Esperanza Center, which, prior to the fund’s establishment, considered discontinuing its education programs due to lack of funding, a release says.
“The Esperanza Center and its dedicated team are a crucial support for our new neighbors in Baltimore and surrounding areas,” Catholic Charities executive director Dave Kinkopf said.
“This major gift from our friends at Gallagher will enable The Esperanza Center to sustain its critical services to the community and increase opportunities for immigrants to pursue paths to citizenship, employment, and better lives.”
Esperanza’s primary educational space will be named “The Gallagher LLP Education Center” in recognition of the support and partnership between Gallagher and Catholic Charities, according to a release.
A considerable chunk of the Gallagher LLP fund will go toward future needs of The Esperanza Center, including support services to the immigrant community – from physical and mental health, to legal services, case management, education and more.
“Giving back is ingrained in our firm and it always has been,” said Meghan Casey, a partner at Gallagher. “It’s one of our core values, so we were thrilled to be able to facilitate this gift that will support the critically important work of The Esperanza Center and Catholic Charities.”
Catholic Charities and Gallagher plan to celebrate their expanded partnership with a plaque unveiling ceremony slated for the spring.
