Groundbreaking held for Frederick hotel, conference center

Groundbreaking held for Frederick hotel, conference center

State leaders joined County elected officials and business leaders to break ground on the Downtown Frederick at Carroll Creek, a full-service and that represents a significant economic development in the region.

Plamondon Hospitality Partners, a hotel management and development company headquartered in Frederick, is leading the $104 million project. Completion of the construction project is set for 2027, according to state officials.

Located along the Carroll Creek Linear Park, the property from -based Marriott will feature 204 guest rooms and more than 26,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, according to a release. Moore was also in attendance for the celebratory event.

“This groundbreaking represents our commitment to choosing alignment, urgency, and the will to compete,” Moore said. “By partnering to build this first-class hotel and conference space, we are making a clear investment in the future of Frederick, and our entire state.”

Upon completion, the hotel and conference center will be ‘s only facility designed to accommodate large-scale conferences and business summits under one roof. Expected to create about 200 jobs, state and local leaders also estimate the establishment to spur more than $100 million in what they call “follow-on development” around the downtown area. 

“Today we broke ground on more than a building — we broke ground on our city’s future,” Frederick Mayor Michael O’Connor said. 

“This hotel and conference center reflects our long-term vision for a vibrant, connected downtown and a stronger local economy. It will create jobs, attract new visitors, and open doors for local businesses while generating lasting opportunities for our residents.”

Partially made possible by state and local investments, the Frederick project will be facilitated through a public-private partnership.
