Rockville teen dies, 2 others rescued from vehicle submerged in pond
Crews from Fruitland Fire Department, Salisbury Fire Department, Salisbury Special Operations and Sharptown Dive Team responded to a vehicle into a pond on South Division Street in Salisbury on the evening of Feb. 11.

Crews arrived to find a vehicle through the guardrail and about 100 feet off the roadway submerged in the pond with an occupant on top of the vehicle. The occupant advised of two other subjects inside the submerged vehicle.
Divers entered the water and rapidly extricated all three patients. One was transported to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional, with two critical patients flown to Shock Trauma by Trooper 6 and Trooper 7.
One person died in this incident. The deceased is identified as Matthew Garcia, 18, of Rockville. Police believe he was the driver of the Honda Civic involved in the crash. Garcia was flown by Maryland State Police Aviation Command to a trauma center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Two passengers in the Honda are identified as Andy Fon Koh, 18, of Takoma Park and Eyuael Zewdie, 18, of Washington, D.C. Koh was flown by Maryland State Police Aviation Command to a shock trauma center for treatment of his injuries. Zewdie was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
