Scott Wilson has been elected the new chairman, president and CEO of , the -based AmLaw 200 law firm.

Wilson succeeds Nancy Greene, who held the positions since 2018 and was the first woman to lead the firm. Greene will serve as the chairman emeritus through the end of this year and will continue to serve on the company’s board of directors thereafter.

Wilson, who has been at the firm since 2007 and served on the board of directors since 2023, said he was “honored and excited.”

“This firm’s strength lies in its people,” he stated in a press release. “We find ourselves at a pivotal moment for the legal profession that will produce winners and losers — we’re going to be winners. I am ready to get to work in this new role.”

Wilson is a principal in the firm’s corporate and securities practice and previously led the corporate team for nearly a decade. He works on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, securities transactions, private fund formation and complex commercial agreements, according to the press release.

Greene, who has been at the 96-year-old firm since 1998, led Miles & Stockbridge through an era of growth. It expanded into New York and Richmond during her tenure and last year opened a office.

More significantly, in 2024, the firm completed a “strategic combination” with Krooth & Altman, a real estate finance law firm based in Washington, D.C. That move added more than 50 employees to the firm — including principals, associates and support staff — bringing it to more than 200 lawyers.

She joined the board of directors in 2017 and, a year later, was named chair, president and CEO. Two years ago, she was elected to her third three-year term as board chair.

Wilson was chosen through a succession planning process undertaken by the board of directors.

“This firm has always taken a long view,” Greene said. “Our succession planning process was intentional, inclusive and focused on ensuring continuity for our clients and our people.”

Greene described Wilson as a “thoughtful and strategic leader who understands both our history and our aspirations.”

“Nancy’s leadership positioned us for this next chapter,” Wilson stated. “Her stewardship over the past decade strengthened our foundation and broadened our reach.”
