Baltimore Symphony Orchestra

Allison Burr-Livingstone serves as senior vice president and chief advancement and communications officer at the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, where she is in her second tenure with the organization.
Among her contributions is her curation and implementation of The Marin Festival, a four-week, institution-wide celebration honoring Music Director Marin Alsop’s 14-year tenure — executed during the 2020-21 season amid the coronavirus pandemic. Burr-Livingstone personally built media partnerships with WBJC and MPT to share special performances with Marin to as wide an audience as possible; the BSO’s June 2021 MPT performance reached 180,000 and marked the orchestra’s first live performance on the network in many years. She recruited and led a Marin Festival honorary committee to serve as the public faces of the celebration, supporting peer-to-peer solicitations that raised nearly $800,000 in direct festival sponsorships. She also secured buy-in across all departments to stage the BSO’s first in-person concerts of the pandemic period — including a performance at the Meyerhoff with lobby windows removed and audiences sitting on the bricks or in Pearlstone Park, and a concert in the parking lot in front of The Music Center at Strathmore. Special content for the MPT program, BSO social media, a dedicated microsite, media relations and a commemorative program brought to life the stories and milestones of Alsop’s 14-year tenure. Alsop remains actively engaged as Music Director Laureate.
Burr-Livingstone describes her approach to mentorship as one of longevity, maintaining ongoing relationships with former direct reports from both the BSO and Visit Baltimore long after those reporting relationships end.
— offering an open ear, ongoing counsel, graduate school support and hands-on professional development as former mentees navigate career transitions.
