JMA Solutions
Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Avis Dillard-Bullock has spent 16 years at JMA Solutions, during which the company has grown from nine employees to more than 100. Throughout that growth, mentoring colleagues and team members has been her most significant professional accomplishment. She has walked alongside people through career transitions, skill development, personal hardships and uncertainty about next steps — and many of those she mentored early on have since become leaders in their own right.
She has described leadership as extending beyond managing contracts and operations — it means investing in people and helping them see possibilities they might not see in themselves. She has also guided a fellow small business owner navigating the federal contracting space, offering advice on business development, proposal preparation, pricing strategy and team building. She created tangible opportunities by bringing the business on as a subcontractor and teaming with them on proposals to build their past performance and competitive standing. Believing those who have navigated that arena have a responsibility to pull others along, she sees that work as strengthening not just one business but the entire community of small contractors.
Outside of JMA Solutions, Dillard-Bullock has built a platform around written encouragement through her Speak Life Caffe brand. She co-authored two Amazon bestselling books, including a devotional in the Faith For Fiery Trials series, and founded VAJK & Associates, LLC to fully pursue what she describes as a ministry of encouragement. Seeing readers connect with messages of resilience and faith during their hardest moments has been, in her words, deeply fulfilling.
