Tazeen Ahmad has served Capitol Hill Consulting Group for nearly 12 years, first as vice president of operations and now as chief financial officer, where she oversees HR, payroll, budgeting and compliance. Like many in small businesses, she wears multiple hats to ensure the organization runs smoothly.

Ahmad co-founded the Up 2 Us Foundation in 2019 alongside her daughter Marium, a school counselor who had witnessed students arriving at school hungry. What began as a home-based effort quickly grew from operating out of their garage into a large-scale food distribution organization within a year, addressing food insecurity across Maryland and Washington, D.C. During the coronavirus pandemic, the foundation delivered more than one million pounds of food to families in need. Ahmad also led the development of more than 30 partnerships with local nonprofits and faith-based organizations, demonstrating how collaboration, innovation and compassion can produce measurable and lasting community impact. In 2020, the Maryland Commission for Women honored her as one of the 100 Maryland Sheroes.

As president of the Montgomery County Women’s Democratic Club, one of Maryland’s most influential Democratic organizations, Ahmad created opportunities for emerging female leaders, first-time candidates and high school students for learning, visibility and engagement in the political process. She led voter education initiatives, organized candidate forums and brought together high-profile speakers including Heather Cox Richardson, Gov. Wes Moore, U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen and U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin — events that drew hundreds of attendees. Working closely with members, she helped develop skills in policy analysis, public speaking, coalition-building and grassroots organizing.
