Christina Billiet leads Waranch & Brown, LLC as managing partner and brings to the role a trial practice built on defending medical malpractice cases in state and federal courts. A fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, she has spent her career representing physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers in malpractice litigation and in board of physician, guardianship and hospital privileging matters. She has led trial teams to defense verdicts in multimillion dollar cases.
What drew Billiet to the field was the intersection of medical and legal issues, the way every case presents a different set of challenges, and the opportunity to work alongside many of the strongest trial lawyers and judges in the region.
Beyond her American College fellowship, Billiet is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America. Her professional memberships include the Maryland State Bar Association, the DC Bar Association, the Baltimore County and Baltimore City bar associations, the Maryland Defense Counsel, the Mid-Atlantic Society for Healthcare Risk Management and American Legal Connections. She has co-authored articles for legal publications and has delivered grand rounds, claims committee presentations and other lectures to attorneys and healthcare providers. She holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Maryland Honors Program and a law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law.
Outside the firm, Billiet is past president of the board of directors of the Family Crisis Center of Baltimore County, a nonprofit dedicated to providing comprehensive services to families experiencing conflict and violence. She also chairs the annual giving campaign at her children’s school.
