Stein Sperling
In his more than 30 years at Stein Sperling, Jeffrey Schwaber has established a stellar reputation as a trial lawyer whose record in the courtroom is matched by his creative and successful resolution of business, employment and commercial litigation cases. Now serving as the firm’s managing partner, Schwaber prides himself on applying innovative strategies to intricate corporate matters and delights in solving unsolvable problems.
Schwaber grew up in a family of doctors who were passionate about helping people through myriad challenges, and he felt strongly about forging a similar path of care and assistance. He found his calling in the law. After moving to Washington following college, he became involved in public advocacy work and came to realize the power in being trained to use his advocacy voice as a lawyer.
He joined Stein Sperling after observing the camaraderie and connection that pervaded the firm, seeing in it a place that openly valued exactly what he did. He considers it the best professional decision of his life and to this day is inspired by the professional pride and commitment to each other that defines the team.
Schwaber focuses on complex corporate disputes, representing local and national companies across business, employment, technology, intellectual property and real estate matters. The courts have called on him to serve as special discovery master in complex litigation, and he has been engaged as a private arbitrator in multiparty cases. He was an integral part of the team that secured the largest civil jury verdict in the history of the Montgomery County Circuit Court, vindicating the rights of an individual inventor against an enormous corporate defendant.
Believing strongly that no single approach fits every situation, Schwaber works to ensure each client knows their case is being attended to, respected and proactively addressed.
He cultivates open communication and trust to help alleviate some of the inevitable stress that comes with the territory of hiring a litigator, while striving to deeply understand every aspect of each case so clients can clarify and hone their goals.
He credits his parents as inspirations, pointing to their tireless work ethic and their commitment to always trying to do good, always acting with kindness and treating people with dignity. Theirs are footsteps he says he can never adequately fill, but ones he can always use to guide him.
